GUIDELINES
MUSIC CATEGORIES
RESTRICTIONS

Artists will sing a musical selection from any of the following categories: Contemporary Christian, Country Christian, Gospel, Christian Hip-Hop, Blues, Jazz and Southern Gospel. Anyone 16+ years old by their audition date is invited to audition. The competition is open to both male and female artists as well as duets and trios. Groups of 4 or more will not be accepted.

ACCOMPANIMENT OPTIONS FOR AUDITIONS AND THE GRAND FINALE

  • Tracks (MP3 on a flash drive) for accompaniment
  • Sing without accompaniment
  • Accompany yourself on your guitar, keyboard, or wind instrument
  • This is a vocal competition, not a band competition. However, a keyboard will be available for your use at the Grand Finale. If you plan to use a string or wind instrument, you must be able to carry them on and off the stage with you, taking no additional time.

WHAT TO SUBMIT AND WHEN

Contestants for EXALT will submit the application form online at Exalt! Audition Application prior to auditions. Preference as to date and time to audition will be given to those who register the earliest.  There is a $20.00 (non-refundable) entry fee per person. If you have a trio of 3, all 3 must submit the registration form and entry fee online.

Contestants using background tracks are to bring them in an MP3 format on a Flash Drive or on their phone to the audition. There are a limited number of time slots available for auditions, therefore you will want to apply ASAP.

All contestants should complete the registration form online (and pay the $20 entry fee) in advance to be assured a time slot. All Things Possible is hosting these preliminary auditions before a panel of accomplished judges at three Charlotte area locations. Two are in North Carolina and one in South Carolina to accommodate the entire metro area. Contestants are welcome from all over the region.

Contestants need only attend one of these audition dates.
Judges will determine the top 10 after the August 5th auditions.

Appointment times will be scheduled for all auditions. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time. You are welcome to come early and stay after your audition to hear the other vocalists, if desired.

SONG SELECTION AND TIME ALLOTTED

Entrants should be prepared to sing one up-tempo song and one slower song at the preliminary auditions, unless otherwise advised by Event Management. In the case of duplication, entries will be based on the receipt date of the online application and registration fee. Whoever completed their registration (and paid the fee) first, will get first choice of songs.

There will be a panel of qualified judges at all auditions.  It is up to the discretion of the judges as to whether you sing the entire song or not, and whether you sing one or two songs. Each contestant is allotted a total of 13 minutes including the judges feedback after you sing.

All sound tracks must be of a professional studio quality. Quality is important and we reserve the right to ask for a new recording should the quality of sound not be up to standards.

We will accept accompaniment through your smart phone. But in case there is an internet connection

issue, please bring the actual Flash Drive in hand.  Do not bring notes to read your lyrics. (Believe it or not, it has happened). Memorize and rehearse your songs well before each audition.

NOTIFICATION AND PERSONALIZED COACHING

Each contestant will be notified  the week of August 6th as to whether or not they made the Top 10. Those selected for the Top 10 will be asked to attend a coaching and photography session on Saturday, August 19th from 10:00 AM – 4:00 pm at Steele Creek Church of Charlotte. Terry Hudson, Talent Manager will coach each contestant one-on-one regarding stage presence and audience

engagement. Cassandra O’Neil and Cindy Kessler will coach each contestant individually on “The Heart of Worship.” Independent Senior Sales Director,

Rose Plesz from Mary Kay Cosmetics, will do make-up for any of the

contestants prior to the Professional head shots which will be taken that evening. Head shots will be used in Exalt! promotion and shared with the contestants.

General Admission – $15 each
*A limited number of tables of 8 will be available at a discounted rate for families of contestants if purchased at the time of your audition. Ask a volunteer at the auditions about these tables.

VIP Packages – $35 each
Includes early admission, buffet dinner with the judges in VIP lounge and preferred VIP seating.

 WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE GRAND FINALE

The Top 10 Finalists will be awarded the opportunity to perform at the Grand Finale.  It is first come, first served seating, unless a reserved table for 8 is purchased. Most contestant’s families purchase one or two tables in advance.

All Things Possible Ministries will provide food, fruit, snacks, soft drinks and bottled water in the green room for contestants and volunteers at no cost.  (Desserts, packaged snacks, soft drinks and bottled water will be available for sale to the audience in the lobby area).

The Top 10 Finalists will be asked a question or two by the Master of Ceremonies in front of the audience, to demonstrate their poise and passion. The Top 10 that make it through to the Grand Finale must arrive at the Showcase event by 3:00 pm for sound checks. Any participant not present for the sound check will be disqualified from singing that evening. Contestants must not have an active recording contract or be under legal commitment to a musical company, group or agent.

PRIZES

FIRST PLACE
Sing and be interviewed on Trinity Broadcast Network’s TV program hosted by Bishop Carl Weeden. Plus studio recording time for three tracks with CMJ Recordings.

SECOND PLACE
Studio recording time for two tracks with CMJ Recordings.

THIRD PLACE
Studio recording time for one track with CMJ Recordings.
