Excited to Empower People on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a Global Event

Giving Tuesday written on a red heart.Entering its fifth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season by connecting diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. Not familiar with GivingTuesday ?#GivingTuesday this year falls on Tuesday,  November 29, 2016.  This provides two weeks to join the global event and give joyfully to your favorite charity.

Do Your Homework Before Giving Tuesday

Do you know how much of your donation actually goes toward the need? It’s important to check ratings of various charities by mission, percentage of donation going to overhead vs recipients, location, and history. There are organizations that review nonprofits for you. You will also want to review the charity’s website, and social media pages to get a real feel for the mission, execution, results and stewardship.

Charity watchdog organizations differ in their opinions of what constitutes a charity that spends its money well. Some say that at least 66% of all donations should go directly towards programs that supply direct relief. Others say that the minimum should be 75%. The organizations below publish ratings to help donors understand how efficiently their contributions to charities are being raised and spent.

  • Guide Star is an information service specializing in reporting on U.S. nonprofit companies. In 2010, their database contained over information on over 1.9 million organizations. They collect IRS information and other public financial data. GuideStar also has a community interface that lets you leave commentary about specific charities. All Things Possible Ministries has achieved Gold Member status with GuideStar.org.
  • Charity Watch focusses on evaluating large charities that receive $1 million or more of public support annually and that are of interest to donors on a national level.
  •  Charity Navigator specifically reviews charities that have generated at least $1 million in revenue for two consecutive years. In addition, the organization must have been in existence, with corresponding Forms 990, for at least seven years.

All Things Possible Ministries is not eligible for rating by Charity Watch or Charity Navigator due to the fact that we do not meet their minimum revenue dollars required for inclusion. NOTE: All Things Possible Ministries has achieved Gold Member status with GuideStar.org.

Consider All Things Possible on Giving Tuesday

Giving and more words together on a heart for All Things Possible Giving Tuesday graphic. All Things Possible Ministries has a unique approach to fundraising. “Uniting the community to provide help and hope to families in medical crisis” is our mission. We accomplish this by sharing the need with the public at local fundraising events and allowing them the opportunity to financially bless a family going through the trauma of a life-threatening medical situation. We want to demonstrate the love and hope of our Lord as written in the Bible in the book of Matthew 19:26.

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Studies show that donors prefer giving to charities that spend considerably more on the mission (aide to the recipient) than on general administrative functions.

Would you prefer to support a nonprofit where 100% of donations received help the families in need? 100% of donations you make toward our medical fundraising campaigns go to paying the service or equipment providers of patients in medical crisis. You might use words like “Amazing! “or “Not possible!” or “Unheard of!” Yet that is exactly what All Things Possible Ministries does, with no Federal or grant money.

How can we do that? It’s possible because our overhead expenses come out of a separate operations account. That account is replenished through individual donations from people who believe in our cause as well as ticket sales and sponsorships at our annual signature events. In the spring we hold a Charity Golf Tournament and in the fall is our popular Exalt! Vocal Talent Showcase.

About Lisa

Executive Director of All Things Possible Ministries since 2013. I personally went thorough a life threatening medical crisis in 2010 and was hospitalized for nearly a month. By the grace of God I made it through. We were overwhelmed with medical bills after the insurance company paid their portion. I know what a burden this was to us. God put it on my heart to help others in similar situations. He gave me the ministry name All Things Possible from the scripture Matthew 19:26 - "With man this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible."
